For ACEN 005 Turin based producer Alec Pace steps out to follow up his breakout release on JEROME Worldwide “Anticipation” in 2018.
Lead track Absolute Pressure displays clear progression from the palettes explored in his output so far. Opening with warped vocal samples, pulsating kicks and a high pitched synth that buzzes across the stereo plane. These sounds woozily bounce forward, creating a heady mixture of confusion and delight as the track wears on. skipping high hats and gulping fx joining the fray. A flange heavy snare signals our entrance into the body of the track with a weighty sub and atonal percussion contributing to a sense of movement towards a higher place. This is confirmed with the introduction of an angelic synth chord signalling the tracks high point.
B side “Ångström” feels like more of a return to form. A misshapen- didgeridoo, supported by frientic percussion leads a light procession towards the tracks cliff face. This creates a feeling of playful suspension that conveys very little of the tracks weight that is yet to come. When it hits, it hits hard - with distorted kick drums charging the piece forward, whilst percussion and a heavily filtered melody try and grab our attention. Fighting over what little space the tracks relentless pulse leaves for the listeners ear.
Absolute Pressure is available across all platforms from the 29th of March.
